Previous Minutes

The minutes of the meeting of 1 April 2015 were distributed to the committee and confirmed as a true and correct record.

Correspondence

·           Email from Christine Paterson requesting start time for Nelson / Marlborough Tournament – Gail Perano to respond ()

·           Letter from Lochie who played in the Men’s Singles on Saturday 2^nd May 2015. After playing and qualifying he told Bob he had to go to work and was unable to complete the final rounds.  Bob asked him why he entered if he was unable to stay for the full day.  His answer was that he needed ranking points.  After conferring with the other top qualifiers Wayne and Louie, it was agreed that Lochie’s score and points were removed from that days play.  He lost all points that he would have gained for that day.  Mike Budny will talk with Lochie to advise him that Bob’s decision stands

·           Letter from Dawn Hart voicing her concerns that the ranking tournaments are held on the weekend where some people are unable to attend and therefore may not make it on the ranking list.  Mike Van Loon will talk to Dawn as she is in his team.  He will advise her that things will remain the same and that only 1 ranking point puts you on the ranking list.

Disputes

·           Letter to Disputes from Havelock Team re who failed to lodge points from the first round of interclub in time. Bob moved that each team in the interclub competition should be allowed one chance to have a late lodgment of game score points without penalty                                         This motion Failed

·           Mike Van Loon put forward a dispute between Peter Chandler and Louie for hitting two balls at the same time, one of them being the black.  There were 2 umpires watching the balls and they both had different responses.  It is in the rules that if there is doubt, the benefit goes to the player and was considered a fair hit.          Moved by Bob Henderson / Seconded by Mike Budny

General Business

·           Bob moved to extend the time by one day to get game score points into the website. This mean you have up to Thursday midnight after Tuesdays game to lodge a score sheet into the

·           The Committee discussed Helen Pope’s ongoing concern in relation to results from a ranking tournament held in 2014.  Helen was advised that the decision regarding the points will stand and there will be now further discussion on this issue

·           Mike Van Loon will create a Comments/Discussion page on the MPA website for players to have their say on issues that do not qualify as a dispute

·           Mike Van Loon to make the World Rules available on the MPA website, both the abridged version and the full version

·           Sponsorship has been confirmed from Central Lodge by Bob.  This needs further discussion as to when and where they will be advertised

·           Mike Van Loon to note the sponsors on the MPA website

·           It has been suggested that Team Fees be paid no later the 1 month following start date, further discussion is required
